multicultural
after months of wondering and searching, i've finally found the origins of this great bhangra song that's been stuck in my mind for the longest time. so instead of the usual font size 0.5px and italicised lyric-posting, here's the incomprehensible (to me) song in larger glory.
.

- "mundian to bach kee"_panjabi mc
.
(at the moment it doesn't make any sense to me either. but who cares. what an awesome track)
.
he who wrote the track - panjabi mc - hails from conventry, uk; upon discovering his british-panjabi ethnicity, i recalled london's cosmopolitan-ness, and once again marvel at how incredible multicultural london truly is.
i mean, i used to think that singapore is multicultural, but how can a small country of 4 (if you include eurasians, who are quite in the minority) main races compare to a large city of, i don't know, hundreds of different ethnicities?
western europeans (the british themselves, then the french, german, spanish, italians..), east europeans (poles, russians...), asians (panjabi sikhs, bangladeshis... chinese japanese koreans malays thais), africans and afro-carribeans...
central london is such a lush melting pot of cultures and diverse ethnicities, it's sometimes unreal. you get onto the bus or tube and everybody you see comes from somewhere else.
makes you feel less foreign, and more at home.
