pardon?

finally realised i was dialling the number wrongly (and hence couldn't seem to get through to m.reb).

when i did get him on the phone, however, the conversation consisted largely of me going "pardon?" - his french accent is truly regional, hence truly strong.

miraculously, i managed to communicate my travel itinery to m.reb. so that's settled. he asked me whether s'pore was hit by the tsunamis (i initially misunderstood and thought he was telling me that he knew someone who had gone to sri lanka; that's how good my french is). i enquired about the weather in perpignan - apparently it's not too cold, sunny and a bit windy.

i foresee that this trip will be extremely interesting. not least because of the cross-cultural elements involved.
