posting from an internet outlet just outside the guillotière metro station in lyon.

this trip has been amazing so far, i wish i could write up the past 7 days in a travelogue sorta way, but c'est pas possible parce que

a) i'm typing on a french keyboard, pressing the backspace button incessantly and making 3 times as many typing mistakes as usual

b) the internet is costing me 1€50/hour

c) no time - it's 10h15, need to squeeze in a visit the musée internationale de la miniature before heading off via tgv to marseille at 13H41

briefly put, nish and i

- arrived in paris in the afternoon of 28 june
- covered 4 musées (rodin, orsay, louvre, centre pompidou) in 1 day, as well as the ste chapelle
- watched molière's <> at the comédie française (and actually understood what was going on)
- ate crêpes for lunch 3 days in a row
- dragged our suitcases up a hill to the lyon hostel (harder than it sounds)
- walked up another hill via a steep rocky path for about an hour in sweltering temperatures in grenoble, in slippers (but well worth it for the magnificent views)
- blew food budget yesterday with savoyarde crêpe (bacon and local reblochon cheese) and house cider for lunch in annecy, and a lovely dinner at one of the vieux lyon bouchons (so much for hoping to lose weight - a bit hard when there's cheese in every meal)

we're off to marseille later, gosh i can't wait! till next time
