woohoo

i've got a ton of work due by the end of this week.

someone said to me today "enjoy yourself while you're in your first year".

i'm not here to enjoy myself though... enjoyment is the optimum by-product that i can only aspire towards.

so i'm glad to say that i'm having a great time here.

i miss friends and family back home, as always. i haven't made any strong deep friendships here. have definitely made many friends, but if i've learnt anything so far, it's the transience of friendship. even the greatest friendship of all time cannot withstand the onslaught of unfavourable circumstance.

i have nothing to complain about, really. i'm just so grateful to even be here.

it's just that if i ever have problems (so far i've been having surprisingly incredibly few difficulties), or if i want to take off somewhere or go do something, there isn't anyone or any group of friends i can instinctively call on here.

.

i'm playing scrumhalf on wednesday. i dunno if i did the right thing by coming out and saying "i'll play scrumhalf" while em was assigning positions to the backs, but i believe i'm doing what i feel is best for the team.

our resident scrumhalf is injured, our resident flyhalf (that's em) may or may not play (risk of injury recurrence), and i 'choped' scrumhalf, so the girl who played flyhalf during the last match that i missed will be playing flyhalf on wed.

i suspect i might actually prefer playing scrumhalf - dunno, there's something thrilling about making sure you're at the back of the ruck to pass the ball out. haha... and i'll actually be in a position to make ball-recycling faster, to make sure the ball goes out to the backs in the first place. it's just like being dummy-half for 80 minutes.
