iconic
my ex-colleague from the pr firm where i worked for two months post-A levels is in london with his brother on a short holiday. i met up with him yesterday for dinner at four seasons (oh, the duck!)
he met my ex-coach (yes, if you're still visiting my blog i'm referring to you;P) at the womens nrc7s (dunno if this is what it's called) tournament earlier this year, as well as a few other national women's players.
and he called her -
iconic (of local women's rugby)
(nice ego booster eh?)
and inspiring (in the way she talked to him about women's rugby in singapore etc etc)
also, he quoted someone who once memorably said to him that as the national "star player", "there is nothing that she can't do"(wrt rugby skills i guess)
i'm proud that i used to learn from her, and i'm hopeful that someday, i'll maybe be almost as good as she is (i'm certainly under no illusions).
.
to be honest, i am worried about being capt next year.
it's gonna be tough. i know i'm neither conventional nor natural at it.
it's all very well to say have confidence in yourself, you'll do fine blah blah
i'll believe in myself. but will others believe in me?
.
